Pros of Shopping in Person
Cons of Shopping in Person
It is fun to do with family and friendsTakes a lot of time
If you are buying clothes you can try them on in personYou won't know the total until you get to the cash register
If you don't have free shipping, going to the store is cheaperYou have to wait in a line at the store
Shopping at a store gives you the chance to see items, you may have not know existed Most stores aren't open 24/7

I love walking around stores, but I also really enjoy shopping online. In talking to a lot of friends, and family they also have mixed feelings. Is there one that is better than the other?

Pros of Ordering Online

  1. While shopping online, you have millions of stores at your fingertips. This is not an understatement! Have you ever searched for socks online? Raise your hand if you  scrolled forever.
  2. If you download apps like Honey, hundreds of coupons automatically pop up while shopping online. Did you say save $40? I will take it!
  3. By shopping online, you save the money you would have spent on gas. If you have free shipping, why are you wasting gas to pick something up when it could be delivered?
  4. After you finish shopping online, all of your merchandise is delivered straight to your door. The last point brings me right to this one. No, more unloading your car! PARTY!
  5. While shopping online, you can see the total price added up at all times. Do you follow a strict budget? I love being able to see how much everything will cost before checking out. The dollars seem to stretch a little bit longer.

Pros of Shopping in Person

  1. Going shopping with a person is a fun family/friend activity. My husband and I love walking around stores, especially in the winter. There is so much to see.
  2. If you are buying clothes in person, you can try them on before you decide to buy them. There are always the options to send the clothes back while shopping online, but that is a lot of hassle.
  3. If you don't have free shipping, going to the store is a lot cheaper. Have you ever gone to check out online and realized your shipping is about the same price as items you want to buy? You might want to rethink that.
  4. Shopping at a store, you can see so many items you would never think existed. Let's talk about beans for a second. Have you seen the varieties of beans at Walmart? Mind blown.

Cons of Buying Online

  1. Your delivers can be a lot later than expected online. Have a special birthday coming up? Oops, no gift for you, the post-man is nowhere near.
  2. Clothing sizes can vary everywhere. It's impossible to know the different sizes while shopping online. Have you ever ordered a shirt from china in your regular size? You will be surprised at how small it is when you open the box.
  3. You can spend a lot online because you have millions of stores at your fingertips daily. Are you a stress shopper? If you are, online shopping isn't for you.
  4. You don't know the quality of an item online until it arrives at your doorstep. I don't know how many times Kevin and I have ordered something that is not what we thought it would be.

Cons of Shopping in a Store

  1. It takes a ton of time to shop in person at a store. If I hurry super fast through the grocery store. I am bound to forget something even with a list. You need to plan a good chunk of time to make sure you have everything that you need.
  2. You don't know the total amount of money you are spending at a store until you get to the registers. It was $300, and we came in for eggs...
  3. There are some creepy people that you come across at stores. After moving to our new house. We discovered that some stores nearby aren't even safe to go to at noon.
  4. Dogs are not allowed in most stores. Yes, some people bring their furry friends inside. Online shopping might be better for you because you and your dog will never be asked to leave an online store from home.
  5. You have to wait in line at a store. Let's not even think about the lines on Black Friday or Christmas Eve!!
  6. You have to have coupons ready to go if you shop at a store and want to save. Have you ever been stuck behind the "coupon lady" who buys $150 worth of toothpaste and only pays 18 cents? Ya, she was prepared!
  7. Most physical stores are not open 24/7. If a store is open 24/7 why, would I get out of bed and go when I have my phone next to me?
